About Us

Originally learning his laminating skills in boat building at Halmatics, Mike Frith started his own small business in 1976, working from home and travelling the length and the breadth of the south coast, as a mobile repair unit. As the business grew, Mike was offered a permanent site at Sparkes Boatyard in Chichester Harbour, which encouraged many customers to bring their boats to him, allowing growth within the business.

The Boatyard has since developed into a Marina complex and offers a working yard facility. With the introduction of Opal Marine into the yard in the early 1990’s and their introduction of the Bavaria Yachts and Hunter Legend Yachts, this helped Mike increase his knowledge and expertise. This also resulted in the further growth of the business which has now led to Mike having an office over-looking the Marina, with a boat shed adjoining.

Mike’s wife Jackie, joined him in the business in 1995, to run the office and administration side of the business. Then in 2000 Mike’s son Dean also joined the business, after completing his Boat Building course at college.

As a result, this has enabled them to offer a greater service to the boating and yachting fraternity, services which include Glass Fibre Repairs, Antifouling, Antifouling and Paint Removal, Coppercoating, Osmosis Treatment, Topside Refurbishment, Supplying and Fitting of Bow Thrusters, Sand Blasting and Keel Blasting and also Rigging Services.

They now also offer a number of GRP components suitable for Legend and Bavaria electronic fittings. Because of the wealth of experience they have gained over the years with Bavaria’s and Hunter Legends, they are now a recognized repairer on behalf of Hunter Legends and Luhrs Marine on the Legends and also by Bavaria Yachts, work which now takes them all over the country.
